Accounting Manager, Consolidations and Financial Architecture

External Description:

Responsible for the overall aspects of the company’s corporate consolidation process, preparation of internal financial statements, and oversight of ERP centralized master accounting data (such as Chart of Accounts). Act as a system administrator for the company’s accounting consolidation tool – Hyperion Financial Management (HFM). Manage a small team including a second HFM administrator, and two data analysts that write queries and prepare financial reports using information from the company’s data warehouse. Assist in the administration of the company’s annual financial compliance activities, including annual financial audit, annual Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 certifications, interactions with internal and outside auditors/advisors and quarterly sub-certifications and certifications.

Job Responsibilities
• Manage all Hyperion functions as they relate to supporting the monthly close process.
• Oversee periodic maintenance, including updates to the corporate chart of accounts and other metadata and mapping changes, changes to standard reports, supporting/coordinating software updates and patches, and any related testing, and managing all utilities and tools, including security for users.
• Assess how the system can help support changes in the business environment including acquisitions, dispositions, retrospective application of new accounting standards, executing plans, and developing future plans to leverage the application technology.
• Assure that financial and accounting records are prepared, maintained, and reported timely in accordance with generally accepted principles as well as with all applicable laws and regulations and that all ledgers reconcile.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of data sources and data outputs
• Creation and implementation of process improvements which includes testing, validating and documenting change process
• Liaison with internal and external auditors, as needed.

Skills
• Ability to manage, direct and mentor accounting staff.
• Assist Director of Consolidations, Corporate Controller and Chief Accounting Officer as directed.
• Ability to work closely with senior and executive level management.
• Familiarity with accounting system procedures, and various General Ledger systems
• An orientation toward positive change and continuous improvement
• Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills are required for this position
• Ability to make sense of complex data, understanding of business drivers, and ability to ask thoughtful and probing questions is a must
• Excellent understanding of the difference between internal and external reporting requirements
• Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources; has experience working with others on a global basis; applies knowledge to coach and mentor others
• Demonstrates an ability to be a quick learner with a desire to continually build his/her skill set and experiences to better serve both internal and external customers
• Ability to be flexible and adapt approaches based on the situation presented and evolving business needs
• Strong time management skills and effectively able to prioritize tasks as needed
• Ability to work constructively under pressure
• Strong written and oral communication skills to conduct training sessions and engage with business partners in a local and global setting effectively

Education Required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance with IT focus.
• Hyperion Certification preferred but not required.
• Certified Public Accountant qualification helpful, but not required.

Experience Required
• 8-12 years of relevant accounting and/or systems experience.
• Strong track record of managing team of accounting staff within public company.
• Experience with building queries using SQL, familiarity with Teradata Data Warehouse environments and/or BusinessObjects preferred.
