Scrum Master

Reports to: Customer Engineering Manager, Teradata IntelliCloud

Location:  San Diego, CA.

The IntelliCloud organization delivers managed cloud solutions to our customers in a highly automated environment. The business is expanding rapidly and seeks flexible, adaptable change agents who will thrive in a highly dynamic environment. We are seeking an individual who is highly motivated, creative and ready to participate in a team environment.

You will help drive the effectiveness and efficiency of the Customer Engineering team by leading multiple scrum teams who will be utilizing latest technology and tools in developing and implementing full automation for building, deploying and testing Teradata database and supported applications and services in VMs for the cloud data center, as well as the automation of our customer onboarding workflow.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility

 

• Guide and coach the teams and organization to follow Agile Scrum practices.
• Educate teams and conduct scrum ceremonies thoroughly, including Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Grooming, Retrospectives, Demos, etc.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Leadership to groom and maintain the product backlog. 
• Help the teams assess their ‘Scrum Maturity’ and agile fluency.
• Improve transparency within the team.
• Remove impediments.
• Be responsible for supporting and coaching the Release Managers and Team Members on Agile Scrum practices.
• Facilitate getting the work done in a servant leader role.
• Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
  
  

Required Skills and Experience:

 

• First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I)
• Three years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.
• Demonstrated skills knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
• Knowledge of numerous well documented patterns and techniques for filling in the intentional gaps left in the Scrum approach (example: numerous Burndown techniques, numerous Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
• Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games 
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills 
  
  

Preferred Skills/Experience:

 

• Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II) 
• Five years of experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory. 
• Basic Knowledge or some prior experience with computer programming languages like C,C++,Java, Python
• Knowledge or prior experience with Code Repositories (e.g. GIT, SVN, etc.)
• Continuous Integration frameworks (Jenkins, etc.), Bug Tracking tools (Bugzilla, etc.)

 

Qualifications

 

• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years job experience in Software Development environment.
