External Description:

Teradata in San Diego is looking for senior software developers. You will be working with our IntelliCloud™ team that has an active technical DNA and bold vision for building cutting-edge software for delivering Cloud-based products and services. As a Principal Cloud Service Engineer, you will work in a startup environment where you can directly influence the future of Cloud-based analytical solutions and services. You will get the chance to build new applications and infrastructure services from scratch using DevOps practices. You will also actively define and implement state-of-the-art technical solutions to help our customers unravel their most complex data analytics needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and developing Cloud services with approximately 50% hands-on coding
  • Applying DevOps and software engineering best practices to impact design and implementation approaches and solutions
  • Coaching and mentoring junior Cloud engineers in software development techniques and Cloud development
  • Certifying performance, security, availability and operations capabilities in the software to create an “as-a-service” experience for customers
  • Developing custom built telemetry, metrics and usage analysis using monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic, CloudWatch, Datadog, Elk, etc.
  • Be a key player in driving the Cloud Services team’s technical DNA

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in professional software engineering, with Agile development team leadership
  • Distributed systems and Cloud services development experience
  • Proven technical ability using monitoring and logging tools (such as CloudWatch, Datadog, ELK)
  • Experience in engineering practices such as design patterns, continuous integration, unit test, application security, configuration management (Ansible, Chef) and code reviews
