The Pre-Sales Solution Architect (SA) is a senior level position that leverages their knowledge of Teradata Platform, competing RDBMS’s (Netezza, Oracle, DB2, Greenplum), ETL tools and BI tools to promote sales of Teradata platform and Services. The SA has broad knowledge of the other relational Databases along with Teradata, Cloud based solutions and architecture, data warehouse and ETL tools, BI tools and Reporting tools to provide an approach to migrating from one platform to another. The SA articulates the Teradata migration methodology and framework and provides technical consulting as a trusted advisor to support sales activities. The SA establishes and enhances customer relationships ranging from DBA to CIO and provides technical expertise on migration engagements.

 

Overall Job Purpose

  • Provide end-to-end support to the Teradata account team: from analysis of existing inventory, scoping the size of the migration projects, creation of SOW and participating on POC’s and bake-offs
  • Work with overall account team to support migration sales opportunities
  • Demonstrates technical expertise and credibility with customers, from DBA to CIO and serves as trusted technical advisor to client
  • Understand and advise customers on the migration framework, methodology, approach, accelerators and tools
  • Creation and reuse of migrations assets: tools, offerings, accelerators, playbooks
  • Manage delivery of multiple migration engagements
  • Work with offshore migration teams to ensure on-time delivery of migration projects

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to scope the complexity of a client’s existing non-Teradata environment
  • Documents client’s current technical architecture, data and ETL architecture and migration approach to future state on Teradata
  • Understand the competitive landscape related to Relational databases, ETL tools and BI tools
  • Provide technical insight and leadership for all migration related pre and post sales tasks
  • Provide migration approach from on-premise to cloud
  • Provide migration estimates and cost to account teams and support the sales process
  • Sync daily with the offshore teams on active projects
  • Build IP and migrations offers and toolkits for clients and projects

Qualifications

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Ten years or more of operational or technical data management platform implementation experience.
  • Strong understanding of Data Warehouse and Analytical ecosystem architectures that include functions such as Physical Database Design, Data acquisition and ETL, and BI Components
  • Client interface and consulting skills required, with special focus on clear communications
  • Experience with data management technologies such as Hadoop and/or Big Data Discovery environments
  • Proven capabilities in relational database and application development environments using (Teradata, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, NETEZZA, Greenplum, SYBASE IQ, Vertica, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, etc.) and operational knowledge of third party data transformation tools (Ab Initio, INFORMATICA, DATASTAGE), Replication tools (Golden Gate, HVR, ATTUNITY) and BI tools (COGNOS, Business Objects, MICROSTRATEGY, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience with at least one cloud offering (AWS, AZURE, INTELLICLOUD)
  • Understanding or experience with Amazon Products – S3, REDSHIFT, ATHENA
  • Significant experience supporting analytical applications and working with advanced analytics professionals
  • Certification in Cloud (AZURE, AWS, GOOGLE, INTELLICLOUD)
  • Experience with UNIX, Shell scripting, SQL (PLSQL, T-SQL)
  • Experience with PYTHON, C++, JAVA, BTEQ, TTU
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or comparable experience

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • MBA or other related master’s Degree
  • Previous Solution Architect role at an analytical hardware and/or software company
  • Hands-on working knowledge with the Teradata RDBMS or equivalent, including MPP, Columnar, Compression, Data Ingestion
  • Hands on knowledge with one of the leading cloud services
  • Hands-on experience with developing predictive analytical models, machine learning
  • Hands-on experience with emerging technologies such as HVR, ATTUNITY, Spark,
  • Experience in Executive communication sessions
