Overview:

The Human Resources team is expanding and scaling its capabilities. As a result, we are seeking a Benefits & Absence Management Specialist to join our benefits team.

You Will:

  • Help design and shape the absence management programs and benefit practices as part of our exciting business transformation.
  • Assist the benefits team, coordinate the wellness program and administer the US leaves of absence, time off programs and workers compensation claims.
  • Serve as point of contact for employee, manager and HR business partner inquiries on benefits, wellness, leave cases, policies and processes.
  • Partner with both employees and HR business partners to navigate the somewhat complex leave of absence process and associated documentation requirements.
  • Administer the leave of absence programs for 3700+ US employees.
  • Meet with employees to explain the leave process and options.
  • Prepare leave of absence documents.
  • Update employee status in Workday.
  • Coordinate with the benefits and payroll teams to ensure accurate benefits and pay while an employee is out on leave.
  • Update and maintain leave records, files and information, ensuring paperwork is completed properly.
  • Maintain informational tools and knowledge of current laws and regulations relating to FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL, USERRA, Workers’ Compensation, state sick leave requirements, etc. and ensures compliance
  • Manages workers’ compensation cases including, but not limited to, documenting, reporting, tracking and monitoring open and pending cases.
  • Maintain relationships with insurance vendors and clinics.
  • Coordinate ergonomic evaluations for office and home-based employees.
  • Generate billing and coordinates payment of monthly benefit premiums with our healthcare providers.
  • Research, recommend and lead the wellness initiatives and associated programs.
  • Promotes program offerings and conducts outreach activities to get/increase participation and re-engage inactive participants
  • Participates in the annual open enrollment process, answering enrollment questions, following up on issues, and arranging employee information presentations; provides back-up coverage to benefits team members as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years in leave management, workers compensation and/or HR generalist role for a large/mid-size, multi-national company
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws, HR and benefits
  • Working knowledge of leave management systems, particularly Workday HCM
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to have the appropriate level of interaction with employees while interpreting policies, procedures and technical applications
  • Must be able to manage confidential information
  • Be highly organized, detail oriented and a stickler for accuracy
  • Strong understanding of how FMLA, CFRA, PFL, PDL and short-term disability benefits integrate
