What You’ll Do
The Teradata Labs Engineering Services organization enables our product development and innovation office teams with the technology and resources needed to develop our analytic data solutions. As a member of one of our fast-paced teams, you will drive as-a-service solutions to internal customers in a secure and automated fashion. This technical lead position will be a member of our Engineering Operations team in San Diego.

Your Duties and Responsibilities (shall include but not be limited to)

  • Design, implement, and support VMware infrastructure and virtual machines (VMs) for R&D use cases
    • Capacity and optimization
    • Design for high availability
    • Configuration management
    • Patching and compliance reporting
  • Drive automated provisioning and management of Windows and Linux server operating systems in virtual environments using real-time data
  • Participate in day-to-day infrastructure operations using ITIL practices via ITSM, e.g., incidents, problems, changes, service requests
  • Participate in the team on-call rotation to ensure 24x7 availability SLAs are met
  • Create and maintain logical diagrams and support documentation
  • Serve as a technical lead on projects and enhancements
    • Elicit requirements from stakeholders and cross-functional teams
    • Propose data-driven solutions that are both innovative and security-focused
    • Work to ensure technical and integration deliverables are on schedule and achieve expected results
    • Report results throughout implementations

Qualifications You’ll Need to Be Successful

Basic Qualifications

  • US Permanent Residence
  • Bachelor's degree in a Technology or related field
  • 10 or more years of Information Technology experience
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Team player who:
    • Collaborates with other team members and cross-functional teams

    • Possesses the social aptitude to work with geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams

Demonstrated Technical Qualifications

  • Support for highly available production servers and VMs
  • Maintenance of Windows or Linux server operating systems at the Administrator-level
  • Utilization of VMware tools:
    • vRealize Automation to automate VM provisioning
    • SRM for Disaster Recovery
    • NSX for network automation
  • Automation of repeatable tasks with PowerShell/PowerCLI
  • Optimization of virtual resources--CPU, memory, storage, and network--to scale environments to meet current and future service needs.
