Teradata is looking to recruit a Senior Industry Consultant specialising in Telecommunications to join the International Region’s Telecommunications Consulting Practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior industry professional or experienced consultant who wants to develop in a new and innovative consultancy led organisation; whilst ensuring that our customers drive value from analytics and data with our technology offerings.

The Consultant will interface directly with our sales teams throughout the region - using their industry knowledge and contacts to help drive revenue through:

  • Providing thought leadership and strategic direction about emerging industry trends, and identifying opportunities for Teradata
  • Adopting a consultative approach to positioning, selling and delivering Teradata’s products and services
  • Supporting account planning activities and opportunity development discussions
  • Identifying and developing key stakeholder and business relationships
  • Participating and speaking at internal and external conferences and events

 

The Consultant will be responsible towards our customers for:

  • Acting as a trusted advisor in solving customers business challenges; creating business solutions that leverage data and analytics, whilst adding value from their own industry knowledge and experience
  • Consulting in the use of data and analytics to deliver value to the customer’s business through engagement with Teradata
  • Establish and develop trusted executive and senior level business relationships to build long-term partnerships
  • Occasional engagement in scoping, leading and delivering customer consulting engagements through the whole services life-cycle

 

The Consultant will also work closely within the community of Data Scientists and Industry Consultants, both regionally and globally to:

  • Identify emerging industry trends and converting these into new business opportunities
  • Identifying assets (i.e. solutions, partnerships etc) from successful engagements that could be replicated, developed and enhanced
  • Participate in the global Telecoms sales and consultancy community
  • Engage with colleagues in other industries, where it is advantageous and supports our objectives e.g. IoT, Smart Cities, Automotive, Manufacturing and Utilities etc

 

Qualifications

  • Educated to Bachelor’s Degree level in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.  An MBA would be an advantage
  • Proven experience working at a senior level within the Telecoms industry, or as a consultant targeting the Telecoms industry
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of how data and analytics is used in Telecoms, combined with the ability to effectively articulate the use and value of analytics to customer stakeholders
  • Deep hands-on expertise in at least one of the following areas within the Telecoms Industry.  Multiple areas of expertise are an advantage:
    • Marketing and/or Customer Experience Management
    • Enterprise or Subscriber Customer Base Management
    • Customer Services and/or Customer Operations Management
    • Finance, Pricing and/or Performance Management
    • Network Planning, Management and/or Operations
    • Fixed/Mobile Network Convergence and/or Telecoms M&A
  • Experience in the following specific areas would also be an advantage:
    • Customer and Profitability Analytics
    • Customer Base Management, Segmentation and Targeting Strategies
    • Revenue and/or Pricing Optimisation
    • Network Technologies and Topologies
    • OSS/BSS data integration and analytics
    • Fraud Detection and/or Network Security Analytics
    • Broadband Fixed Networks/VOD/IPTV analytical models
  • Previous experience of presenting to and working with the Senior Management/CXO level; either as an external consultant or as a senior manager in a Telecoms company, i.e. internal consulting
  • Experience working with Telecoms Standard bodies (3GPP, TMF etc) would be advantageous
  • Travel expectations: up to 70%, both regionally i.e. EMEA, APAC and occasional travel outside of the region e.g USA.  Typical trip duration is 3-4 nights, occasionally longer for long-haul destinations
