What You’ll Do
Teradata Product Support Engineers are key members of an expert team of support analysts, focused on delivering a myriad of deep-level technical support related assignments to both internal and external customers. You will develop a deep understanding of the Teradata database and associated tools and platforms, along with the ability to clearly articulate and document support decisions and findings. Product Support Engineers are highly motivated and creative support analysts who are ready to contribute to Teradata's success.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop in-depth knowledge of Teradata products through self-paced training materials
- Work with internal and external customers to deliver analysis and solutions for Teradata product issues
- Recreate problems to assist with root cause analysis
- Interact with Engineering, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to isolate product defects
- Learn and adhere to the Teradata Incident Management Process
- Participate in on-call rotation and after-hours support as needed
- Treat every customer professionally and with respect; ensuring positive customer experience and satisfaction
- Coordinate proper escalations, where needed, for unresolved issues
- Gain and maintain current knowledge of Teradata Customer Services Policies, Procedures, and Service offerings
- Create knowledge on new learnings
- Assist in technical mentoring of new team members
Your Background
- US Citizen or Green Card required
- Located in San Diego, or willing to relocate to San Diego
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline
- 4-7 years of experience with LINUX and/or other OS environments
- Experience working in a mission-critical, 24/7/365 environment
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed support team environment
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and analytical ability
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Strong time management skills and multi-tasking abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Experience using a problem ticketing system – ServiceNow a plus, not required
Specific Skills You’ll Need for this Role
- Experience supporting customers with complex database systems
- 1-2 years of Working Experience on Teradata Database
- Experience using the command line interface on LINUX
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
- Working knowledge of Java, C/C++, XML
- Knowledge of Teradata' System Management applications (Viewpoint, TASM)
- Experience working with Excel, pivot charts and macros
- Familiarity with Teradata's load/unload products (TPT, fastload, mload, fastexport)
- Exposure to query tuning with an understanding of Teradata Optimizer and statistics
- Working knowledge of performance and resource data collection and analysis
