Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled, business-minded, experienced HR Business Partner for our San Diego, CA location. This role is the “next generation” of the HR Business partner, working side-by side with the business driving organizational effectiveness, drawing on business and HR acumen to provide advice and counsel to leaders and client groups. 

You will make a difference at Teradata by:

  • Helping to set and deliver against HR and client group business objectives; being accountable for results
  • Implementing and adapting corporate, regional or client group programs
  • Helping to develop and coordinate the realization of the roadmap and strategy for implementing human capital programs and initiatives within the business
  • Drive / support re-organization, M&A, integration activities as required
  • Rolling up your sleeves, having an opinion, influencing others, driving change

You will:

  • Builds ‘trusted partner’ relationships
  • Diagnose business performance problems, in partnership with OD Partner
  • Participate in HR cross-functional projects
  • Voice of the Business’ to HR COE’s
  • Responsible for COE project adoption across client group
  • Facilitate client team discussions (e.g., group dynamics, conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Advise on talent placement & moves
  • Participate in selection of leaders
  • Facilitate leader onboarding
  • Review new job descriptions
  • Partner with Talent and OD to facilitate Talent Review & Strategic Workforce Planning; preparation and action planning
  • Act as a coach to leaders
  • Lead business-specific compensation strategies
  • Lead annual compensation planning

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree in HR Management, Industrial Relations or related discipline. 
  • 7-10 years of experience in a Human Resources; MBA and or PHR preferred
  • The ideal candidate should have knowledge in a broad range of HR functional areas including Compensation (practice and delivery), HR Technology, Talent Management, Development, Recruiting and general HR operations. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to engage and influence others to achieve results.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills along with effective active listening skills. 
  • Continuous learning mind set; stays relevant on HR functional, business industry and functional areas – to provide meaningful insight to businesses supported
  • Ability to diagnose systemic issues; analyze inputs and draw conclusions based on data.
  • Demonstrated ability working in ambiguity, quickly identifying competing business priorities; pivoting and shift gears in order to drive results and meet deadlines. 
  • Proven experience in leading large organizational change initiatives from project plan to execution.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of working well as an individual contributor as well as collaboratively across teams and functions. 
  • Proven ability to push through issues and barriers while maintaining relationships, and demonstrated techniques and experience overcoming obstacles. 
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative even under unfamiliar or ambiguous circumstances.
