Fraud Alert

Be aware of scams involving phony job postings.

Teradata has recently become aware that individuals not associated with the company are making fraudulent job offers to work for our company.  These individuals do NOT represent Teradata and these offers are for non-existent jobs.  Teradata is working with law enforcement authorities to report and address the issue.

We regret that individuals are misrepresenting themselves as associated with Teradata.  By making you aware of this, we hope to avoid, and ultimately prevent, unsuspecting individuals from falling victim to this scam, known as Recruitment Fraud.  Recruitment fraud is normally perpetrated through online services such as bogus websites or unsolicited e-mails claiming to be from a real company. These websites and emails request that recipients provide personal information and ultimately payment to process applications for jobs that do not exist.  Recent incidents involving Teradata came from a website called “Teradata-corp.com.”  Teradata’s actual website domain is ‘Teradata.com.’

Here are some tell-tale indicators of possible Recruitment Fraud.

  • E-mail correspondence is often sent from (or to) free web-based e-mail accounts such as Yahoo.com, Gmail.com, Googlemail.com, Live.com, etc. Any legitimate Teradata job related emails will come from our corporate email accounts (name@teradata.com).
  • The perpetrators will often send applicants bogus recruitment documentation that includes the Teradata name and logo featured on the documentation without authority. Legitimate Teradata employment documents will be sent from our corporate email accounts (name@teradata.com) or via our secure electronic systems.
  • There is an early request for personal information such as address details, date of birth, passport details, bank information, etc.
  • Email correspondence appears to be sent from an officer or senior executive of the Company, often in Human Resources.
  • The perpetrators ask you to send them money for training, equipment or processing required for the job. Legitimate Teradata job offers will not require you to pay fees.
  • The Sender has an exclamation of urgency.

If you receive an email or are otherwise contacted by an entity you believe is not a legitimate Teradata representative, we suggest you do the following:

  • Please send us an email at fraud.alert@teradata.com with your name and telephone number so that we can follow up with you.

  • Keep the fraudulent message for further investigations.

  • Do not contact or otherwise engage with original sender.

  • Do not forward the fraudulent email.

By making you aware of these fraudulent schemes, we hope to keep you from being victimized, and ultimately to stop these schemes. Thank you for your help and please surf safely.
